The Medite History


Medite House In 1977 the late Roy Davies, together with two colleagues opened an office in Ferensway, Hull, to handle the agency for MSC's vessels sailing to East Africa and the Red Sea.

Initially the staff numbered five, but quickly grew leading to a move to Grosvenor House in Hull with a staff of over twenty.

In 1982 MSC decide on a UK port change to Southampton. Medite transferred its operation there shortly afterwards.

Medite House The expansion of containerisation in 1984 saw a further port move to Felixstowe where the continued growth of MSC's UK activities enabled Medite to develop into the modern established liner agency that it is today. In 1991 Medite became the first UK Liner Agency to achieve BS5750 status for the full scope of its UK activities.

In July 2004 the UK company changed its name to Mediterranean Shipping Company (UK) Ltd, reflecting the global branding of MSC.

Mediterranean Shipping Company (UK) Ltd, from its Ipswich headquarters, offers shippers a comprehensive range of services supported by branch offices in London, Liverpool and Glasgow together with experienced operational management at major UK ports, providing on the spot supervision of MSC vessels.

Modern technology and over four hundred and fifty committed staff are dedicated to meeting clients needs. The personal touch from 1977 lives on and in no small measure has contributed to the success of the business.
